I realize in hindsight that sounded much more whiny than I intended! I'm incredibly lucky and have a whole swath of fannish people I spend time with in meatpsace, and have several amazing friends I met through fandom that are now just regular friends who I'm sometimes fannish with, including people I see regularly and who live in my city. :) I feel alone on the internet, but not alone beyond that. :) (I'm very lucky!)
I definitely need to get out and explore DW more. Right now I'm just coasting, but friending memes are a great idea. I participated in a DW-based (but AO3 hosted) fandom gift exchange earlier this spring and that's part of what pushed me back here. :D Finding *people* rather than *communities* will be the trick, since I am so in-between fandoms. :)
